Beyond Basics Class fee is required at time of registration, by phone Visa or MasterCard are accepted. NO REFUND IS GIVEN ON REGISTRATION FEES, but a replacement class is given with seven days notice. Cancellations on any block of the Month or Mail out will NOT BE ACCEPTED. GST is not included in class price. Be sure to pick up class list when registering. DO NOT purchase supplies until you are sure class is running. 20% discount is applied to all materials required for class. Classes are designed for our fabric and supplies and we thank you for supporting Sewing With Class. Due to copyright laws, class participants are required to have pattern or book. Come prepared with your sewing machine in good working order.
To assist you in making the appropriate choice of class for your quilting skill level, we have developed a scale that indicates which level each class is aimed at. Levels are explained by the number next to the class title: (1) - Beginner - No previous quilting required. (2) - Confident Beginner - Beginner class required. (3) - Intermediate - Techniques are beyond the basics, quilting experience. (4) - Advanced - Challenging construction and techniques.

Day and Night Quilt – Esther (2) |

Day and Night block was first published by a mail order company in 1933. Eleanor Burns has simplified the technique. Learn about the effects of color. There is no waste as the leftovers are used in a wallhanging or tablerunner. The quilt top will be made in class and if time permits we will start on the bonus projects. **This is a great follow up to the Beginner's class. Book required. Inside there is a large dividing zippered pocket for file folders (or the latest quilt magazine). This is a really cute bag! Sized to be used as a purse or could be a smaller tote. This bag has interior pockets, magnetic clasp closure, and a “wavy” pleated front design. This is a traditional block made simpler by using a special ruler designed by Deb Tucker. It saves time and streamlines the construction of this fabulous star quilt. We will be making a large lap or (single) sized quilt, approximately 55in X 60in. To make fabric selection easier, Sewing With Class will be making up kits for this class, so you will be guaranteed the same fabrics used in the sample! By the way the pattern is called Hot Flash. It will be the best hot flash I have ever had….

Everybody loves the effects of looking through a kaleidoscope and Ricky Tims has devised a method of making such a design from strips of fabric! Create a spectacular kaleidoscope quilt with Ricky’s unique strip-piecing method for making a multi-faceted pattern. In this course, you will see impressive and intricate results from simple sets of strips; it’s foolproof with little need for pre-planning. No two kaleidoscope quilts will be alike, even if the fabrics used are the same, just like the real thing! Come and joint us for this exciting project! Book required.

Fabulous Fractures - Esther (2/3) |

Use simple strip-piecing techniques to create an infinite array of stunning one-of-a-kind fractured designs from large scale prints, panels, or your own digital images. Fractured quilts are another way of making fabrics more interesting. It provides a view similar to what you would see in a fractured mirror, hence the name. In class we will cover the basic fracturing technique, and complete one fracture. We can discuss ways of using these fractures, to get you inspired to try quilt blocks, wall hangings, placemats…..wherever your imagination will take you! **If you are planning on using a photo for your project it is advised that you first attend the Photo Transfer class. If you cannot scan and print on fabric sheets Sewing with Class has prepared a kit using the same photos as used in the store sample** Book required.

Introduction to Photo Transfer - Esther (All) |

In this class we will discuss several ways of transferring photos to fabric which is used to make memory quilts, posters, and fractures! This is a discussion class only, no supplies are necessary. We will discuss fabric sheets, photo selection, and ways to print. Now you can go home with confidence and print your own “fabric” using your computer inkjet printer for your projects! **This class is a prerequisite for our “Fabulous Fractures” class if you choose to print your own fabric to “fracture”**
